Proctoring Resources

Oklahoma State University provides options for online exam proctoring.

Examity

Examity is integrated with the Brightspace online classroom and it allows the instructor to choose different levels of authentication and oversight, depending on their needs.

Here is a brief video overview of the process a student goes through during an Examity proctored exam.

The process of using Examity to proctor an exam in your course is outlined below.

  1. Contact ITLE’s Teaching & Learning Support group (facultyD2L@okstate.edu) to get the course set up with Examity. Be sure to include the course’s name and section CRN in your email.
  2. Create the exam within the Brightspace Quizzes tool. (This page has video tutorials covering Quiz creation)
NOTE: Do not require the Respondus LockDown Browser on proctored exams as it interferes with the proctoring software.
  3. Create an Examity link in Brightspace so that you and your students can access the Examity Dashboard (Instructions here)
  4. Go to Examity and enter your exam requirements (Instructions here)
  5. Inform your students. To help with informing students, Examity provides a PDF document with three example emails. Additionally here is a Student Quick Start Guide.
  6. After students have finished, review video of any potential violations. Examity saves the video of each proctored exam and will bookmark potential violations to aid in review.

ProctorU

ProctorU is an online proctoring service that allows students to complete an assessment at home while ensuring the integrity of the exam. The service uses proctors who monitor students throughout the entire exam in real-time.

The process of using ProctorU to proctor an exam in your course is outlined below.
