Overview

This certificate is fully online and is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain a base knowledge to supplement their work in the academic discipline they have chosen. Students who are pursuing degrees in areas such as business, finance, information systems, and analytics can prepare themselves for positions with health systems and health organizations through this certificate program. Students in the Master of Health Care Administration or Master of Global Health programs may also enhance their academic disciplines by adding this certificate to their curriculum. Students who earn a certificate will have a distinct advantage over others in an employment recruiting circumstance.

Graduate Certificate in Health Care Administration – Finance Courses (12 credit hours):

• HCA 5083: Financial Structures of Healthcare Organizations (3)
• HCA 5213: Advanced Cases in Healthcare Finance (3)
• HCA 5163: Healthcare Accounting and Auditing (3)
• HCA 5063: Healthcare Compliance (3)

Admissions Requirements and Deadlines

• Completed online application: rolling deadline (*We do strongly suggest applying at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the semester you wish to begin your studies to allow for enough time to get you properly oriented.)
• Completed bachelor’s degree official transcript
• 3.0 GPA or higher
• Statement of purpose describing your personal career goals and how the master’s degree will support those goals, a brief description of experience or qualifications in support of the application, and the specific track you want to pursue.
• OPTIONAL (but encouraged): Up to three letters of recommendation, preferably from professors and/or supervisors familiar with your academic ability, work ethic, and skills. (Applicants only need to provide their recommenders’ email addresses. Recommenders will then be emailed a link from which to upload their letter.)
• OPTIONAL (but encouraged): Resumé/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  Skills, equipment, and access for online course participation include the capacity for independent learning, proficiency in Windows, Internet, e-mail, and basic applications; multimedia computer and high-speed Internet access are necessary.
• Applicants graduating from schools outside the U.S. are required to submit transcripts that have been evaluated to U.S. standards
• $50.00 application fee
