Why study Aviation and Space online through OSU?
Format
This 100-percent online degree program is delivered throughCanvas, OSU’s online learning platform. All doctoral coursework is offered in an eight-week format, with the exception of 16-week research course offerings. Students enrolled full time can expect to complete the EdD in two to four academic years, depending on credit hour requirement.
Curriculum
The degree emphasizes aviation leadership and executive development; administration of aviation institutions; aviation law; influencing public policy in the aviation industry; international aviation issues; the development of air and space flight; aerospace risk assessment; the earth’s air, land and water systems; the solar systems to include the sun, planets and probes; applied aviation and space research; and internship opportunities.
Beginning fall 2020, the program will allow up to a maximum of 30 credit hours of coursework from a master’s degree, including non-OSU master’s degrees, to be applied toward the EdD. This reduces the total number of required credit hours from 61 to a minimum of 31 credit hours.
Admissions
To apply to the Applied Educational Studies - option in Aviation and Space Education, EdD program, complete the following:
- Graduate College application
- Transcripts from all previously attended institutions (3.0 minimum GPA required; provisional admission may be given to those with a 2.5 minimum GPA)
- Current resume/vita
- Personal goal statement
- Two letters of recommendation
- GRE score requirement has been waived
Application deadlines:
- April 1 —Fall Semester
- September 1 — Spring Semester
