Format

• 32 credit hours
• All non-thesis pathways are fully online
• All courses are offered online for the following tracks of emphasis: Arson, Explosives, Firearm and Tool Mark Investigations (AEFTI); Forensic Investigative Sciences (FIS); and Forensic Psychology.
• The Forensic Biology/DNA (DNA) and Forensic Chemistry/Toxicology (TOX) tracks can be completed fully online if students pursue a non-thesis degree option.

Curriculum

The Master's program in Forensic Sciences offers online pathways in Arson, Explosives, Firearm and Tool Mark Investigations (AEFTI); Forensic Investigative Sciences (FIS); Forensic Psychology; and Forensic Science Administration (FSA). Our curriculum offers a solid background in forensic sciences and specialized topics such as blast injuries and effects, criminalistics, forensic leadership, ethics, the law and expert evidence, psychology, and organizational development.

Admissions

Suggested application deadlines are July 1 for Fall admission and October 1 for Spring admission. Applicants are encouraged to submit application materials at least six weeks prior to the start of the semester.

MS Admission Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with a recommended grade point average of 3.0 or better. (Applicants graduating from schools outside the U.S. are required to submit transcripts that have been evaluated to U.S. standards.)
• Statement of Purpose to include: Personal career goals and how the Master's degree will support those goals

• Three letters of recommendation preferably from professors and/or supervisors familiar with your academic ability, work ethic, and skills.
• Related background, degree or experience may be required.
• Verification of forensic-related employment (for applicants to the AEFTI and FSA tracks) to be sent by employer. The Forensic-related Employment form may be requested by emailing forensic@okstate.edu.
• Skills, equipment, and internet access are required for participation in online courses. Participants need the capacity for independent learning, access to computer, Internet, and e-mail, as well as proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Cost

Students enrolled in the Forensic Sciences master's program will complete 32 credit hours during the course of their studies. Cost estimates below are calculated based on 2022-2023 rates. Additional cost details and OSU’s tuition and fee estimator are available on the Bursar website.
