Get certified in Forensic Crime Analysis

A Graduate Certificate in Forensic Crime Analysis is earned after completing 12 hours of focused study. The goal of crime analysis is to support decisions in policy making, crime prevention and criminal investigations. Through the completion of this certificate, individuals will learn how to analyze crime data and respond to the results of the crime analysis.

Overview

This certificate can be completed fully online, and the 12 credit hours can carry over and apply to our MS in Forensic Sciences degree, if students choose to continue into that program. This certificate will provide the necessary skills for individuals employed in law enforcement, policymaking, private security, etc. to conduct Crime Analysis that will shape policies and support the work they do in their fields. Each course will cover material within the Law Enforcement Analyst – Foundation (LEAF) exam.

  • FRNS 5553 Introduction to Forensic Crime Analysis
  • FRNS 5563 Theories in Forensic Crime Analysis
  • FRNS 5573 Policing Strategies in Forensic Crime Analysis
  • FRNS 5583 Data and Statistics in Forensic Crime Analysis

 

Admissions Requirements and Deadlines

  • Completed online application for Fall or Spring (the department reviews applications on an ongoing basis as they are received).
  • Completed bachelor’s degree official transcript.
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Resume or CV
  • Statement of purpose describing your personal career goals and background, and a brief description of experience or qualifications in support of the application.
  • Skills, equipment and access for online course participation includes the capacity for independent learning, proficiency in Windows, Internet, e-mail and basic applications; multimedia computer and high-speed Internet access are necessary.
  • Applicants graduating from schools outside the U.S. are required to submit transcripts that have been evaluated to U.S. standards.
  • International applicants: coursework in the School of Forensic Sciences is online. That said, you will be able to remain in your home country.
  • $50.00 application fee (domestic).
