Get certified in Forensic Weapons of Mass Destruction Investigation

Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) include weapons of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or explosives (CBRNE) nature. This program is for law enforcement and intelligence community personnel who participate in WMD investigations in federal roles.  The certificate will augment each student’s current training and professional experience.

Overview

This certificate can be completed fully online, and the 12 credit hours can carry over and apply to our MS in Forensic Sciences degree, if students choose to continue taking courses.   Students are required to verify with the Forensic department whether their current employment is applicable prior to applying.

  • FRNS 5013 Survey of Forensic Sciences
  • FRNS 5343 Forensic Investigation of Clandestine Laboratories
  • FRNS 5353 Forensic Investigations Involving Radiological/Nuclear Materials
  • FRNS 5363 Forensic Investigation of Chemical/Biological Incidents

 

Admissions Requirements and Deadlines

  • Completed online application for Fall or Spring (the department reviews applications on an ongoing basis as they are received).
  • Attach academic transcript(s) (students must have an earned bachelor's degree prior to enrolling in coursework)
  • 3.0 GPA or higher for admission without qualification
  • Resume/CV
  • Statement of purpose describing your personal career goals and background, and a brief description of experience or qualifications in support of the application. (Typically, 1-2 paragraphs maximum)
  • Employment Verification approval from department of Forensic Sciences
  • Skills, equipment and access for online course participation includes the capacity for independent learning, proficiency in Windows, Internet, e-mail and basic applications; multimedia computer and high-speed Internet access are necessary.
  • $50.00 application fee (domestic).
