Why get a SLPA certificate?

Through our SLPA undergraduate certificate, students are equipped to assist speech-language pathologists in providing treatment for individuals with speech, language, voice, swallowing, feeding, and other disorders.

Overview

Our program prepares students to meet the SLPA qualifications set by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and Oklahoma  Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (OBESPA) so that they can go on to support SLPs in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, nursing homes, day care centers, and private practice.

Our program requires a bachelor's degree to be completed or in progress. Students receive 100 clinical contact clock hours through externships at a variety of clinic centers around Oklahoma. Clock hours can be completed in as little as 1-2 months.

This online program requires __ credits of coursework outlined below, followed by an in-person off-campus internship (practicum). Most online classes meet asynchronously but there may be some synchronous options. Credit from in-person equivalent courses can be applied to the certificate. CDIS majors need only add the practicum credits to complete the certificate with their degree.
