Why study Business Analytics and Data Science online through OSU?

The online MS in Business Analytics and Data Science (MS BAnDS) is a STEM-designated program that trains those who are currently in the workforce to transition as analytics and data science professionals and tackle real-world challenges. In 2022, our online program was ranked 10th by Fortune’s Best Master’s Programs in Business Analytics and as 7th by Fortune’s Best Master’s Programs in Data Science. We use state-of-the-art enterprise level analytics software The program is fully multi-platform and students get hands-on training with software and tools such as Alteryx, Azure, Data Bricks, GCP, Power BI, Python, R, SAS, SQL, Snowflake, Tableau and Tensor Flow which provide great advantages in the competitive job market.

Format

The Spears School of Business offers online programs as an alternative way to earn a degree for working professionals. We believe all students should have access to high-quality, affordable education regardless of their schedule or location. Online courses are available 24/7 and are designed with multimedia content and virtual activities to promote student collaboration.

 

Curriculum

For working professionals, earning a master’s degree in the STEM-designated MS BAnDS program online requires 33 credit hours (check our Plan of Study page for core course details, electives and software used in each core course) and graduates typically find employment as data scientists, data/business analysts or consultants, or statistical analysts. Beyond core courses, all students have the choice of specializing in various pre-approved options or creating a completely customized set of electives to fit their career goals.

 

Admissions

  • GMAT or GRE are required with minimum recommended scores above 51st percentile in each of the test areas.
  • Work experience is considered during the application review process and is strongly encouraged. Those with five-plus years of relevant work experience may be allowed probationary admission without GRE or GMAT scores.
  • Fall application deadline is June 1.
  • Spring application deadline is Nov. 1.
  • If you are unsure about committing to a full MS degree and want to first try out a few courses, we encourage you to start with Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics and Data Science. Once you complete the two core courses, you may transfer all of your credits to MS BAnDS degree.
