Why study Interdisciplinary Studies online through OSU?

The bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies is a four-year degree for students who wish to tailor course choices to meet individual goals. The degree program allows you to prepare for professional careers that require extensive knowledge in a broad array of subjects. The interdisciplinary program allows you to focus on two or three areas of study that you select. You may use “major” courses from an Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree to fulfill one of three areas of concentration.

Format

An interdisciplinary studies degree can be completed 100% online. OSU provides online degree choices to fit your busy schedule. Using the latest technologies, we put quality online courses within reach for students who are not able to attend classes on campus or commit to full-time, face-to-face enrollment due to the time constraints of working full-time and raising a family.

 

OSU uses Canvas for our learning management system and hosts your online courses and content. From lectures to discussions to submitting assignments, all course interaction is completed entirely online. All you need is the necessary discipline and access to computer capabilities. All instructors who teach online learning courses are the same quality faculty who teach on-campus courses.

 

Tips for Online Students 

 

Curriculum

By combining coursework across disciplines, you can tailor the curriculum to reach unique academic and career goals. Students must complete 120 semester hours with at least 40 upper-division hours. In the Interdisciplinary Studies option, the “major” is composed of two or three areas of concentration, usually minors or certificate programs. If choosing three areas of discipline, students must complete 18 hours in each area. If choosing two areas of concentration, students will take 27 hours of course work. If you have an AA, AS or AAS degree, you can use college credit earned in your major in one area of concentration. Students work with an advisor from the Student Academic Services Office in one of the academic colleges. The Office of Student Success is a good place to start if you need guidance.

Apply as a transfer student if you have attempted a minimum of seven semester hours of college-level credit after graduation from high school.
