Get certified in effective teaching in elementary schools
Alternatively certified teachers can now fulfill all the requirements to transition
to permanent licensure to teach grades 1-8 while also earning a graduate certificate.
Develop a strong pedagogical foundation of research-based strategies to manage a classroom
and teach elementary reading, math, social studies and science.
Successful completion of this certificate program requires 15 credit hours (five courses)
of graduate-level coursework in reading, classroom management, social studies and
science and mathematics education. Credit hours are transferable to additional graduate
degree programs.
This fully online program offers 16-week courses, along with year-long mentoring.
Online courses are delivered through Canvas, OSU's online learning platform. We facilitate peer-to-peer collaboration and community
buildingthrough both synchronous and asynchronous course formats. Synchronous courses are
delivered via Zoom during after-school hours one day per week. Faculty blend the synchronous
coursework with asynchronous coursework to most effectively support graduate students'
learning.
